07.11.2018 Personal exhibition "Apple of Love" of Italian artist Carmine Barbaro

The Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Education Center "Italy" and the Committee "Dante Alighieri" on November 7, 2018 at 16.30 open the anniversary, personal exhibition "Apple of Love" of Italian artist Carmine Barbaro.

Carmine Barbaro is a famous artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who has dedicated his life, work, enlightenment and love to Almaty and our country.

personal exhibition "Apple of Love" of Italian artist Carmine BarbaroThe title of the exhibition “The Apple of Love” is not accidental, as Carmine has been living in Almaty for more than twenty years, the symbol of which is apples. Here he was filled with sincere love for Kazakhstan, people, its open spaces, surprisingly rich and picturesque nature; found his home; founded a school to learn Italian. The artist expresses his love for life, to people through his creative works.

Carmine Barbaro is a versatile person who tries his ideas in different genres. He works in the field of easel and monumental painting, graphics, sculpture, and also writes portraits, still lifes, etc.

An artist who lives in two worlds and cultures is not uncommon, but to change the mild Mediterranean climate to a sharply continental one is a definite challenge to oneself and a surprise for many. At the same time, he demonstrates sincere enthusiasm and desire not only to understand, but also to experience a new world for him – the world of Kazakh culture.

The desire to know life prompted him to make trips to townships, made him look very carefully at the faces of his future characters – the old men, women, listen to the rhythms of nature. For example, the painting “Three Grandmothers” was written at the time of the evening feast – Iftar (the evening ritual “Auyz Ashar” in the Muslim month of Ramadan). The painting depicts three figures. Carmine showed interesting plasticity, movement, well picked up the color of the work, subtly feeling the color transitions, which gives the composition an organic rhythm. The example of this work clearly shows that the artist feels harmony, connecting elements of traditional, national artistic culture and the modern vision of the world. We are interested in Carmine Barbaro precisely because of the freshness of his eyes, an unusual fate, a synthesis of Italian romanticism and the Kazakh mentality. The master was able to show in a new way the well-known and familiar themes and plots.

The main aspect of his work is the pursuit of humanity in art. Carmine Barbaro is a member of the Union of Artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a member of the Association of Genoese Artists, professor, director of the Educational Center "Italy" in Almaty, chairman of the Committee "Dante Alighieri", Honored Cavalier "Stars of Italy".

The exhibition presents more than 80 paintings of the artist, created in different periods of creativity.

A briefing for the media will be held as part of the exhibition’s opening.
