The Great Silk Road is historically an international trade route of the peoples of East and West. As is known, the Great Silk Road played an important role in the development of economic and cultural ties between peoples. Colorful and noisy oriental bazaar attracted merchants and buyers from around the world in order to offer and to buy silk and porcelain from distant China, spices from India, ceramics from Khwarizm, works of art and many other unusual items. Ancient cultural traditions were successfully continues today.

To plunge into the fantastic atmosphere of oriental bazaar allow the Central Asian Crafts Fair "Silk Road", dedicated to the 1000th anniversary of Almaty. Traditionally the fair will be held on 21-22 May, 2016 at the Central State Museum in Almaty. In this year, in parallel with the exhibition "Silk Road" with the support of the Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Almaty will host the contest "Southern capital - through the eyes of young artists" in the following nominations: exhibition, workshops for all types of arts and crafts and fashion shows (fashion show).

In celebration of the 1000th anniversary of Almaty will take part in the competition: O.Tansykbaev Almaty College of Decorative and Applied Arts, college KazNAA named after m T.Zhurgenov, the Egyptian Cultural Center and the Kazakhstan-Japan Center for Human Development, as well as art colleges and schools of Russia, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will present the work of young artists, reflecting the theme of Almaty (scenic places, attractions, historical and cultural monuments, symbols of the city, historical subjects, etc.) and demonstrate master classes, fashion shows (fashion show).

The Festival organizers are the main goal is to demonstrate the cultural diversity of the developing modern city, to acquaint residents and visitors with the various stages in the development of the city history represented in the exhibition complex and to demonstrate the creativity and skills of young artists in different genres - painting, drawing, sculpture, tapestry, jewelry, wood carving, ceramics, painting, embroidery, felting.

The exhibition will be attended by more than 80 folk artists from all regions of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Russia and Georgia. A wide range of gift and souvenirs will be presented: clothing, jewelry, musical instruments, oriental miniature and oriental carpets, felt and silk, textiles and lamps, amulets and leather goods.

At the end of the contest winners will be awarded certificates, diplomas, prizes and letters of thanks.
