31.01.2023 a memorial evening dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the outstanding Kazakh writer, playwright, laureate of the State Prize Bakkozha Mukai

On January 31, the Central Museum hosted a memorial evening dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the outstanding Kazakh writer, playwright, laureate of the State Prize Bakkozha Mukai. He was born on January 31, 1948, in the village of Narynkol, Raiymbek district, Almaty region.

In 1971, he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of the Kazakh State University, and in 1965 he began his career in the Rayymbek district newspaper "Light of Communism" (now "Khantaniri").

In 1970-1988 he worked in the magazines "Bilim zhane enbek (Education and work)", "Zhuldyz (Star)", in the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan. In 1990-1995 he worked as editor-in-chief, head of the Department of the Repertoire Editorial Board of the Ministry of Culture. In 1990 he organized and headed the regional society "Kazakh Tili (Kazakh language)". Member of the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO. He was awarded several medals. He worked as the editor-in-chief of “Parasat (Sanity)” magazine.

Bakkozha Mukai published his first works at the age of 17-18. His creativity is known to the reader mainly from the novels "Zhalgyz zhayau", "Omirzaya", as well as the books "Zhanbyr zhauyp tur", "Omir arnasy", "Akku sazy", "Mazasyz mausym", "Dunie kezek", "Toyat tuni", "Zheti zheli", "Algashky mahabbat", "Yertegidey yertenim". M.Bekkozha's works have been translated into Tajik, Kyrgyz, Belarusian, Yakut, Tatar, Bashkir, Czech, Russian, Uzbek, Karakalpak, Turkmen, Korean. In the Russian language, the books "Vodovorot" (1984) and "White Bird" (1988) were published.

Bakkozha Mukai is also well known as a playwright. More than a dozen of his works have been presented in theaters in Kazakhstan and abroad. Translated a number of works into Kazakh. For the play "Goodbye, my Fairy Tale!" and the book of short stories "Akku Sazy" he was awarded the title of laureate of the Lenin Komsomol of Kazakhstan, the literary prize named after T.Abdymomynov of the Kyrgyz Republic, for the novel "Omirzaya" he was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan" and awarded the Order "Parassat".

The first word was given to the Adviser to the President of Kazakhstan Otarbayev Malik Nurzha-novich, who arrived at the solemn event on behalf of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Kemelevich Tokayev. M.Otarbayev read out a congratulatory text on behalf of K.Tokayev, where it was noted that "Bakkozha Mukai is an outstanding writer, playwright, well-known publicist, public figure, laureate of the State Prize, who devoted his entire adult life to the development of our national literature and strengthening spirituality. His creative, prose and dramatic works are an invaluable contribution to the golden treasury of Kazakh literature. He once created the Kazakh Tili society in Almaty region, and thereby made a great contribution to improving the status of his native language."

The guests of honor of the evening - Bakkozhi Mukai's brother Akylzhan Seydenuly, poet, playwright, statesman and public figure Nurlan Orazalin, writer, screenwriter, professor of the T.Zhurgenov Academy of Arts, Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan Smagul Yelyubai shared their warm memories of the writer.

The guests were presented with a musical program prepared by the students of Zh.Yelebekov Republican Variety and Circus College.

At the end of the event, the guests got acquainted with the exhibition dedicated to the creative activity of the writer. The works of the writer of different years, a collection of works in five volumes published during his lifetime, documents, photographs were presented here. Personal belongings could also be seen in the window: glasses, a belt, a commemorative watch donated by the international Kh.Yassavi Kazakh-Turkish University, a pen "Parker", a camera and much more. The dramatic works of the writer B.Mukai, presented in theaters of Kazakhstan and foreign countries, were presented on the poster stand. In particular, this is the tragedy "Omirzaya" staged at G.Musrepov Kazakh State Theater of Youth and Children, the play "Kunde meiram, kunde toy" staged at Makhambet Atyrau Interregional Kazakh Drama Theater, the drama "Haetdan tuigan tun" at the Uzbek Academic Theater, etc.

The museum management expresses its sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Deputy Director General of the RSE "Gylym Ordasy" for scientific work and international Relations Nurlan Seidin for his help in organizing the event.
