On December 15, 2025, at 4 pm. In the National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be the opening of the Republican Reporting Exhibition «ECHO OF TIME». The exhibition is dedicated to outstanding representatives of Kazakh visual art and the 100th anniversaries of Khakimzhan Nauryzbayev and Moldakhmet Kenbaev, the 175th anniversary of Nikolai Khludov, the 95th anniversary of Evgeny Sidorkin, as well as the 85th anniversaries of Yerkin Mergenov and Tolegen Dosmagambetov.
The year 2025 is filled with significant jubilee events in the history and culture of Kazakhstan. This year marks a number of significant anniversaries, including the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the 70th anniversary of the Baikonur Cosmodrome, the 30th anniversary of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, the 180th anniversary of Abai’s birth, the 190th anniversary of Chokan Valikhanov’s birth, the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the 100th anniversary of the M.Auezov Kazakh National Drama Theatre. Alongside these important historical dates, it is felt that the jubilees of the masters of visual arts hold a special significance for the cultural life of the country.
It is important to acknowledge the significant contributions of Khakimzhan Nauryzbayev, Moldakhmet Kenbaev, Nikolai Khludov, Evgeny Sidorkin, Yerkin Mergenov and Tolegen Dosmagambetov to the formation and development of visual arts. Their legacy has left an indelible mark on the history of Kazakh fine art. As a Kazakh proverb tells us: It has been suggested that the path travelled by ancestors leaves a trace for descendants, which appears to reflect the continuing relevance of their artistic heritage today. The works of Kazakhstani artists are a continuation of the traditions of Kazakh sculpture and graphics laid down by the first generation of professional artists, and they bring these traditions into the present day, enriching them with a contemporary artistic and aesthetic vision and new thematic content.
The exhibition features more than 140 works of art by Kazakhstani artists in painting, graphics, sculpture, and applied arts, with over 40 additional works presented online. About 135 artists from Almaty, Almaty Region, Astana, Kokshetau, Pavlodar, Petropavlovsk, Aktobe, Atyrau, Aktau, Oral, Kyzylorda, Shymkent, and the Turkistan Region are participating in the Republican exhibition.
The works reveal innovative approaches in the artists’ visual and expressive manner, the conceptual depth of their chosen themes, and the spirit of national identity conveyed through modern artistic imagery. Viewers will encounter deeply meaningful works that reflect a dynamic harmony and interplay between personal experience and observed narratives embodied in diverse genres.
The «Echo of time» exhibition will become an important cultural event, showcasing the continuity of the national school of visual arts, the development of creative traditions, and new facets of contemporary artistic trends.
