On 4 of May, 2026 at 3:00 pm, the National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan will host the opening of the art exhibition «WORLD OF FLOWERS». Organized by members of the Almaty Centre of Active Longevity.
The aim of the exhibition is to show that creativity knows no age limits and can serve as a source of inspiration, self-expression, and art therapy for people of all ages.
New works have been created for this exhibition, dedicated to flowers – symbols of beauty, renewal, and harmony – which reveal the diversity and expressiveness of the floral world, its subtle poetry and grace. The exhibition features work created using various techniques – watercolor, acrylic, gouache, and oil – and covers a wide range of styles: abstraction, avant-garde, and realism.
The hobbies of older adults allow them to draw on their accumulated life experience. They learn to see beauty in the details, experiment with color and form, and create works imbued with emotional depth and wisdom. Participants at the Active Longevity Centre note that such activities bring a sense of fulfilment, support mental well-being, and make life more vibrant.
The Centre is attended by children of various ages: from 3 months to 3 years – under the guidance of Marlan Kenesovich Nysanbaev, a graphic artist and watercolorist, member of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan and Georgia, Vice-President of the Academy of Arts of Kazakhstan, and recipient of the medals «Qazaq onerining kairatkeri» and «Eren enbegi ushin», and an academician of the World Academy of Arts of France «Art-Mondial», as well as a painting teacher, Marlan Kenesovich Nysanbayev. Thanks to his mentorship, the Active Longevity Centre’s exhibition is opening for the second time at the National Central Museum.
Visitors are particularly drawn to the «Almaty Azheleri» Mature Models Club project, launched by the Centre in 2023 (led by Zina Saylauovna Ishchanova, an Outstanding Educator of the Republic of Kazakhstan). The oldest model is 76 years old. These remarkable women represented Kazakhstan at the International Fashion Week in Italy, won international ethnic festivals in Turkey and Kyrgyzstan, and took part in the city festival of national dress (2024). Their vibrant performances received widespread media coverage, and the group also featured in Olga Sapozhnikova’s documentary film «The Path to Oneself Is a Long Life».
The «World of Flowers» exhibition is connecting together 51 participants and featuring over 120 works, is set to be a highlight of the city’s cultural calendar. It showcases the richness and diversity of the floral world, where art brings people together, fills life with harmony, and inspires new creative achievements.
The exhibition will run until 14 of May, 2026.
