On December 17, 2025, at 3 p.m., the National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan will host the grand opening of the personal exhibition of artist Tatiana Shapiro “CELLULAR STRUCTURE” an art project that reveals a new worldview in art and philosophy, dedicated to the inner world of man and the nature of life.
The exhibition “Cellular Structure” explores the image of the cell as the primary basis of all living things. The exhibition invites the viewer to think about what we fill our “cells” of consciousness with: memories, fears, hopes, dreams, scientific knowledge, poetry and everyday worries. On the one hand, all people have the same cellular structure, being part of a single living organism on the planet. On the other hand, everyone chooses their own “cage” of existence: someone lives within the limits of limitations and fears, while someone expands their consciousness to the scale of the universe. The exhibition becomes an invitation to reflect on freedom, choice and the inner world of man.
Tatiana Shapiro started drawing since childhood, but she came to painting professionally after graduating from the Faculty of Psychology and mastering art techniques. This combination of psychological knowledge and artistic language formed her author’s style. Her work was greatly influenced by studying the history of art, visiting museums, biennales and international exhibitions. Her work was greatly influenced by studying the history of art, visiting museums, biennales and international exhibitions. A special stage in her development was her acquaintance with the famous Kazakhstani artist Marlan Kenesovich Nysanbayev, a teacher at the Center for Active Longevity. The Center actively participates in city, regional, national and international exhibitions, in which Tatiana Shapiro has also repeatedly participated. Today, Tatiana Shapiro is a bright representative of modern Kazakhstani art, whose works reflect a unique life path and a deep inner search.
Continuing this path, in 2014 her solo exhibition “The Ellipsis of Time”, which poet Zair Asim called “windows of memory — traces of inner biography”, received a wide response. In addition, a series of four graphic works on themes of isolation, despair and hope have been included in a private collection in the UK. And the ironic work “Overthrow of the Tie regime” (a carpet of men’s ties) became a vivid example of her multifaceted artistic language. The artist also actively participates in group exhibitions in galleries such as Umai, Tango Square, Ular, etc.
At the same time, international exhibition activity has also become an important stage in her creative biography: in 2018, the work “Memory of a Memory” was presented at the Art Capital international exhibition at the Grand Palais (Paris) and is now in a private collection in London.
Tatiana Shapiro works in various genres and art directions – painting, graphics, collage, installation, decorative and applied art. Ceramics occupy a special place in her practice today, opening up new plastic and philosophical possibilities. The upcoming exhibition will feature about 70 works that make it possible to trace a wide range of her artistic searches and the evolution of the author’s language.
