14-23.03.2025 The Decade of Nauryznam

The Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as part of the Decade of Nauryznam celebrations, will hold a series of cultural and educational events and promotions from March 14 to 23, 2025. Each of the ten days is dedicated to a specific theme and values ​​reflecting the richness of traditions and diversity of Kazakhstani culture and society.    

On the first day of the Nauryz celebration “Korisu kuni – Amal merekesi” (March 14),   The Committee of Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the International Organization TURKSOY hold the traditional III International Scientific Forum “ULY DALANYK ULTTYK DUSTURLERI” with the aim of popularizing “Korisu kuni” and studying the ethnic history and cultural heritage of the Turkic-speaking peoples, within the framework of which issues related to the common Turkic history, cultural and linguistic identity will be considered. The key topic of the scientific forum will be the topic of “Nauryz”: modern studies of the history and traditions of the holiday. Within the framework of the International Scientific Forum, the following will be held: thematic sections “Turkic traditions: ethnocultural features”, OPEN SPACE – “Modern trends in the promotion of national culture”, as well as the exhibition “SHEBERLER ALANY” of the Union of Craftsmen of Kazakhstan.

March 15 – Kayyrymdylyk kuni, a day dedicated to charity and mercy. On this day at 11:00 the Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan will hold a mobile charity event “Give Good!” in support of the pupils of the Regional Center for Support of Children in Need of Special Social Services” (Almaty region). The event is aimed at supporting children, forming the younger generation’s interest in the historical past of the Kazakh people and familiarizing them with national traditions. As part of the event, master classes will be held for 50 children-pupils of the Regional Center on applique “Ornament of the Kazakh Carpet”, “Tulips of the Great Steppe” and painting “Koktem simfoniyasy”, which will be conducted by the famous Kazakhstani artist, member of the board of the Union of Artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Maksat Kantarbayev.   March 16 has been declared Shanyrak Day (Shanyrak kuni). The family plays an important role in the upbringing of the younger generation, instilling in them from childhood family values ​​to a person, such as love, respect, trust, mutual assistance, kindness, respect for traditions and procreation. For this purpose, a cultural and family event will be held in the museum on this day at 15:00 “Bakytty otbasy”, aimed at introducing the history and traditions of the Kazakh people, popularizing family values, including fostering respect for the older generation.

March 17 – “Madeniet zhane ulttyk salt-dastur kuni”, on the Day of Culture and National Traditions, The Central Museum at 11:00 a.m. is holding a cultural and educational event to promote culture and national values. «Ulys on bolsyn!», where museum visitors will get acquainted with one of the most important traditional and ancient rituals of the Kazakh people – «Tusau keser».

On the Day of National Clothes – Ulttyk kiіm kuni (March 18), a lecture-fashion show of samples of traditional Kazakh clothing will take place “Ukili kamshat, burmeli koilek…” (the event will take place in the Dostyk Plaza shopping center at 12:00). On this day, every Kazakhstani has the opportunity to express their individuality through clothing.

March 19 – Zhanaru kuni (Renewal Day), at 15.00. The Central Museum, with the active participation of the Center for Active Longevity, will jointly hold a cultural and educational event «Zhanaru – zhaksylyktyb nyshany», aimed at reviving the traditions of the Kazakh people associated with the renewal of nature and purification by fire – a ritual that is an ancient tradition.

A special place in the traditional culture of the Kazakh people and the celebration of Nauryz is occupied by national sports, which are the brand of our country and reflect all the traditions of nomadic life, strength of spirit and the desire for constant development.   Since ancient times, the Kazakh people have organized competitions at all holidays. 20  march (Ulttyk sport) 14.00 p.m. The staff of the Central Museum will conduct master classes for all interested people “Traditional sports games of the Kazakh people”, among which the most popular are togyzkumalak and asyk atu.

March 21 – Yntymak kuni – Solidarity Day. This holiday is the embodiment of centuries-old Kazakh tradition and culture, uniting the diversity of national heritage and the unity of the people. A video lecture will be held “Yntymakty urpak – zharkyn bolashak”, dedicated to the Day of Solidarity and Unity of the People, which contributes to the development and prosperity of Kazakhstan.

 22 march  (Zhyl Basy – New Year), The Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan invites visitors to a thematic excursion from 11:00 to 16:00  “Armysyn, Az-Nauryz!”, which will introduce visitors to the traditions of Nauryz meiramy, Kazakh folklore and musical art (fairy tales, folk songs and kuis), etc.

23 Nauryz – Tazaru kuni, the symbol of which is purification, cleanliness and the desire for a careful attitude towards nature and its resources. On this day, a clean-up day will be held with the participation of employees of the Central Geological Survey of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
