22.08.2025 The memorial exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the renowned Kazakhstan graphic artist and painter Aman Bakhtygaliyev

The Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan will hold a memorial exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the renowned Kazakhstan graphic artist and painter Aman Bakhtygaliyev from August 22 to September 5, 2025.

Aman Bakhtygaliyev (1945-2020) left a rich creative legacy of more than 100 graphic and pictorial works. His most notable pieces include “Mother”, “Kurmangazy”, “Shashu”,      “I am Kazakh”, “The Dream of Ablai Khan”, “Baikonur”, “In Memory of Makhambet”, as well as graphic series such as “My Land”, “Victory Day”, and others. He graduated with honors from the N.V. Gogol Almaty Art College and from the I. Repin Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture with a degree in graphics. From 1979 to 1988, he taught at the N.V. Gogol Almaty Art College. Alongside his teaching, he actively pursued creative work. From 1987 to 1989, he served as Secretary of the Board of the Union of Artists of the Kazakh SSR. In 1992, he was appointed director of the N.V. Gogol Almaty Art College.

Artist Aman Bakhtygaliyev made a significant contribution to the development of fine art in Kazakhstan. He continued to work tirelessly until the end of his days and trained many students. Alongside such renowned artists as M. Kisamedinov, I. Isabayev, B. Pak,  A. Rakhmanov, S. Aitbayev, Sh. Sariyev, T. Dosmagambetov and K. Kametov, A. Bakhtygaliyev sought to reveal and convey the facets of national art, as well as the beauty and diversity of the surrounding reality. His works reflect patriotic themes – love for the native land, homeland and the life of ordinary people, daily labor, everyday scenes, as well as the picturesque places and landscapes of Kazakhstan. The exhibition presents portraits, still-lifes and thematic compositions that embody the artist’s worldview and creative journey.

The exhibition presents around 60 graphic and pictorial works by A. Bakhtygaliyev, produced between 1970 and 2020.

The works of Aman Bakhtygaliyev are housed in the collections of state museums in Kazakhstan as well as in museums abroad and private collections (in Russia, Ukraine, Mexico, Moldova and others).

The Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan preserves 8 of the artist’s graphic works.

The museum invites visitors to discover the creative legacy of this outstanding Kazakhstan artist and teacher.
