04.02.2026 The exhibition “Zhylaidy Zhurek”, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding poet Mukagali Makatayev

On February 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM, the National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan will host a literary-musical evening and a traveling exhibition, “Zhylaidy Zhurek”, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding poet Mukagali Makatayev.

Mukagali Makatayev was an outstanding Kazakh poet, lyrist, translator, and a classic of XX century literature.

The event will be organized jointly with the Memorial Museum of Mukagali Makatayev, part of the Association of the museums of Almaty region, as well as the Republican Variety and Circus College named after Zh. Elebekov.

The event will feature the poetry of Mukagali Makatayev, as well as performances of songs, zhyr-terme, and literary-musical compositions, comprehensively revealing the spiritual world of the poet.

The purpose of the event is to introduce audiences to the life and work of M. Makatayev and to promote the significance of his poetry.

As part of the literary-musical evening, Mukagali Makatayev’s son, Zhuldyz Makatayev, and his wife and specialist in literature Bakytgul Aidarova, as well as the poet’s contemporary, journalist Duysen Maglumov, will share warm memories of the poet’s creative legacy.

As part of the event, a one-day traveling exhibition will be organized from the collections of the Literary-Memorial Museum of Mukagali Makatayev, located in Karasaz village, Raiymbek District, Almaty Region.

The exhibition will present photographs, poetic manuscripts, and books that illustrate the poet’s life and work.

In addition, the poet’s descendants will donate personal belongings of M. Makatayev to the collections of the National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Cultural and art figures, specialists in literature, and students will take part in the event.
