02.04.2026 The exhibition “GRAPHICS OF KAZAKHSTAN”

On April 2, 2026 at 3:00 pm, the National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan opens a unique biennial “GRAPHICS OF KAZAKHSTAN”

The exhibition is an important cultural event, demonstrating the development of modern level of Kazakh painting. Exposition is unites works of members of the Academy of arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan, members of the Apple Palette, as well as young artists working in the field of easel graphics, will showcase a diversity of artistic techniques, original approaches, and thematic explorations.

Graphics is the art of laconic expression, where minimal means generate profound meaning. Works of art are created both on paper and in mixed media using various materials, but the expressive power of line and stroke remains at the core. Behind the outward restraint lies a complex, multi-layered process that requires high precision and concentration, giving graphic works a unique depth and originality.

It is especially worth emphasizing that in more than 30 years of Kazakhstan’s independence, this specialized exhibition, entirely dedicated to easel graphics, is being held for only the second time. This provides grounds for rethinking the role of graphics in the national artistic process and its place in the global cultural context. In this regard, the biennial is becoming an important platform for creative interaction and the updating of the graphic art genre. Artists from eight regions of Kazakhstan are participating in the national graphic exhibition: Almaty, Astana, Pavlodar, Kokshetau, Karaganda, Temirtau, Shymkent, and Taraz. The project’s geography underscores its scale and unifying role in the country’s contemporary art scene.

Visitors will be able to see works by renowned Kazakhstani graphic artists, including: Khashimzhan Kurbanov, Marlan Nysanbayev, Baltas Ospan, Lidiya Drozdova, Viktor Polikarpov, Elena Popova, Aleksandr Rorokin, Shokan Toles, Urkesh Khasanov, Maksat Kantarbaev, Alpamys Kenbaev, Talgat Kismetov, Damir Magzumov, Duzhan Magzumov, Georgiy Makarov, Anatoliy Drozdov, Zhanat Koshen, Zhumagazy Sagimbaev, Natalya Saigusheva, Zarina Sakbaeva, Rustam Serzhanov, Tatyana Solovyova, Serik Tainov, and other masters.

The exhibition features over 100 works executed in a variety of techniques, from classical ones (etching, lithography, linocut) to contemporary experimental forms. The works reflect a wide range of themes, from national identity and historical memory to pressing social and philosophical issues of the present day.

The “Graphics of Kazakhstan” exhibition aims to popularize graphic art, support the professional artistic community, and attract the attention of a wider audience to one of the most expressive and intellectual forms of fine art—graphics.
