Graduate Exhibition of De Montfort University Kazakhstan Students.
BA Hons Graphic Design & Illustration: 18th — 24th June
Art & Design Foundation: 25th June — 2ndJuly
On June 19th, the National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan will host Designers Go Outside, an exhibition of work by graduating students from De Montfort University Kazakhstan’s BA Graphic Design & Illustration programme.
The exhibition marks a significant moment: the first graduating cohort from the programme & the culmination of four years of study, from foundation level through to their final degree work.
During this time, students have been challenged to consider how the practice of design sits within modernity, both globally & locally. As Central Asian creatives, they occupy a unique position, with voices & perspectives that can contribute meaningfully to industry, practice & research.
This exhibition represents the end of their studies, but the beginning of their careers. Using the networks, skills & confidence developed during their time at DMUK, they are now beginning to define their place within professional environments, roles & opportunities that are rapidly developing in Almaty & across Central Asia. This sense of transition led to the exhibition title, Designers Go Outside. It speaks to a crossing of the threshold into new & exciting territories.
Alongside this, we also want to celebrate our graduating Foundation students, who are at the beginning of their creative learning. They began the year with a keenness for creativity, making & experimentation. Over the last eight months, they have been introduced to different methods of application, refinement & reflection.
From 25 June, these students will exhibit selected works that showcase a broad range of practices & specialisms developed over the past year. These are skills they will continue to master & refine as they progress into the next stage of their studies.
