The Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan on April 5, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. opens an art exhibition «Karagym-ai». «Karagym-ai» — this is an appeal full of love, care and recognition, a word that contains all the endless tenderness of the Kazakh soul.
The exhibition presents works of art by twenty women who study at the ART studio of Indira Elif Badambayeva. For the participants of the exhibition, painting was once just a dream, distant and inaccessible. Someone started painting just a few months ago, and someone has been creating for a long time. And all of them have come an incredible way and now their bold, profound works reflect their lives and worldviews.
This exhibition is about a woman. About the world she creates around herself, about her tenderness and strength, traditions and rethinking, about the value of life and its endless depth. The works presented in the exhibition are passionate, bold, incredibly bright in color. Here, the Kazakh heritage is intertwined with modern meanings, and tradition – with the personal view of the artists. The idea for the exhibition was born in the Studio of Indira Elif Badambayeva – a space where art becomes a special way of perceiving the world and professional training.
Project curator – Indira Elif Badambaeva – artist, teacher, member of the Union of Artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Master of Painting. Author of the famous cover of Harper’s BAZAAR Kazakhstan dedicated to Kantara, creator of the art project “Kazakh Alphabet in Latin”. Her works are in private collections around the world – Kazakhstan, Great Britain, Switzerland, Germany and the USA. As a teacher with more than 10 years of experience, Indira shares her knowledge with young artists, inspiring them to find ways of self-expression and development. In 2024, she was included in the list of 5 heroes of Kazakhstan according to the British magazine 5Eleven, dedicated to the Great Silk Road.
About the artists participating in the project
The project brought together women with different stories, views and different themes, but they are united by one thing – there is so much tenderness and love in their bold works. It is precisely these tender, kind feelings that are so lacking in the world, which is currently experiencing shocks and losses. This exhibition becomes proof of incredible creative power. Each work in the exhibition is a voice. This is the artist’s path to himself, his revelation to the world. The exhibition will feature:
