The mobile audio guide is an alternative way to listen to information about exhibits or a guided tour using a smartphone. By installing a special application on their phone or scanning the QR code on a display case, visitors can have access to the audio recordings that tell about the selected exhibit. This option is suitable for individual visitors for whom hiring a personal guide may be costly, or for those who are not attached to a group and have flexible time. An internet connection is required to use this service.
For organized tourist groups, a traditional guided tour with a museum guide is, of course, more suitable.
In our museum, you can use the free mobile audio guide system, the international Izi.travel platform. If you have a smartphone or tablet with an internet connection, you can install the Izi.travel application on your device and access audio recordings describing specific exhibits or display cases, not only in our museum but also in other museums around the world. To do this, find our museum in the application’s search function and select the exhibit for which you would like information, or scan the Izi.travel QR code is located near the exhibit. The audio track will be loaded online, provided an internet connection is available. If you are unable to connect to the internet in the museum, or if mobile reception does not work in the halls, you may connect to the museum’s Wi-Fi network. The password is indicated near the ticket office.
Download the Izi.travel application from Google Play or the App Store. Then launch the application and search for the «National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan». On the museum’s page, select the language suitable for you from the languages available in this audio guide. After selecting the required language, tap the download button
located in the upper-right corner of the museum image and, in the window that appears, tap «Download». When the museum package has finished downloading, a message will appear confirming that the download has been completed successfully.
Open the main menu of the IZI. Travel application in the upper-left corner and select «Downloaded». In the list, you will see the downloaded museum package. Tap it, and it will open on your phone.
If you do not have a premium subscription to this application and are using the free version, the application may prompt you to purchase a subscription when you tap the download button and may not allow you to download the museum package. This usually happens if you have previously downloaded another tour in the application and it remains in memory. The free version allows only one package to be used offline. In this case, go to the «Downloaded» section and delete the old tour packages from the list. Then try downloading the museum package again as described above.
After this, you may disconnect from the internet and use the museum audio guide offline in all halls where the IZI. Travel sign is displayed, selecting tracks by exhibit number or by the image of the corresponding display case.
We recommend to use personal headphones so as not to disturb other visitors.
P.S. The application installation and the downloading of the museum audio guide to your phone should be carried out near the ticket office or in another area where an internet connection is available. Wi-Fi will not be available in other areas.
P.S. 2. Please note that when selecting the museum page in the application or viewing information through a browser after scanning a QR code, a page in another language may open. In this case, find the drop-down list of available languages and select the appropriate language.
