20.01.2023 "Dombra is the soul of Kazakh".

The Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan today held a traveling exhibition "Dombra – the soul of Kazakh" in the building of Kurmangazy Kazakh National Orchestra of Folk Instruments.

The exhibition, organized as part of the musical evening of kyui called "Saryarka" in honor of the 200th anniversary of the composer Kurmangazy Sagyrbayuly, presented a collection of dombra from the funds of the Central Museum.  

The museum's fund has a collection of musical instruments, about 200 units. Dombra is a Kazakh national stringed plucked musical instrument. They differ in the shape of the body, the length and width of the neck, the number of obtrusive frets, the decor; the techniques of playing the instrument are also different.

The unique ones include dombras that belonged to Dilda, the wife of the great Kazakh poet Abay Kunanbayev; dombra, on which the poet and composer Zhayau Mussa performed his songs; dombra, with which the Kazakh singer Amre Kashaubaev toured in Paris in 1925; dombra of the singer, People's Artist of the USSR Kulyash Baisseitova; dombras of People's Artists of the USSR Yelubai Omirzakov, Manarbek Yerzhanov, academician Kanysh Satbayev, poets Zhuban Moldagaliyev, Kassym Amanzholov, statesman, ethnographer Ozbekali Zhanibekov, archaeologist Kemel Akishev; also, the dombras of people's artists of Kazakhstan Kauken Kenzhetayev, Kairat Baibossynov and Makpal Zhunussova were presented to the eyes of Almaty residents and guests of the city.
